I took these pictures whilst showing my family (visiting for the month) the center of London and Cambridge. Overall, I love how the illusion of the line worked well – however, it’s too chaotic to notice at first.

RUG by Johnathan Hodgson:
RUG

This was the animation that inspired me to make a pattern animation using similar patterns. I realized that this technique works when one or more of the visual elements stay consistent whilst the background changes. I also noticed that the patterns are limited to only one object – the rug – meaning that the visuals portrayed here feels much more directed and precise than something very abstract. When I made my multiple tests with the pills, I tried to keep the shape consistent – which gives the illusion of travelling in a direction, whereas in the video trying to experiment with the diagonal moving line, it feels like im animating the movement of the line, rather than traversing into a makeshift space.
